Abstract

This study characterized social support, self-efficacy and psychological outcomes and their effect and relationship among doctors during Covid19 in Pakistan. It measured the following hypotheses: (a) there would be a significant relationship between social support, self-efficacy and psychological outcomes among doctors during Covid19 (b) social support predicts self-efficacy and psychological outcomes among doctors during Covid19 (c) there would be a significant gender difference on the variables of self-efficacy and psychological outcomes among doctors. The sample size was 172 doctors 86 males and 86 females with age range of 26-35 years. The data was collected from different Government hospitals of Lahore through purposive sampling technique. The variables such as social support, self-efficacy and mental health problems were measured through Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) ( Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet & Farley, 1988),  General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE) (Schwarzer, R., & Jerusalem, M.,1995),  and General Health Questionnaire (GHQ) ( Goldberg D, 1970) respectively. Data was analyzed by using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) 21 software. Statistical analysis was done by using descriptive analysis, Pearson’s product correlation coefficient, linear regression analysis and t-test to the study variables. The results of the study indicated that there was a significant negative relationship between social support, self-efficacy and psychological outcomes whereas there was a significant positive relationship between social support and self-efficacy. The results also indicated that social support significantly positively predicted self-efficacy and psychological outcomes among doctors during Covid19.
