Shihab Nama and Kashmir:A study

Abstract

This research paper is an attempt to highlight the difrent aspect of Kashmir  through  Shahb Nama famous book of Qudrat Ullah Shahab.  Shahab Nama is the autobiography of Qudrat Ullah Shahab. It was publised in 1986 just before his death.Qudrat Ullah Shahab (1917–1986) was an eminent Urdu writer and civil servant and well known bureaucrat of Pakistan and Sufi scholar who had a deep connection with Kashmir. He was born in Gilgit, which has cultural and historical ties with Kashmir, and later served as the chief secretary of Azad Kashmir.Shahab's writings on Kashmir are a testament to his love and understanding of the region's culture, history, and people. He wrote extensively on the beauty of Kashmir's landscapes, the richness of its cultural heritage, and the struggles of its people.Through his works, Shahab highlighted the spiritual and philosophical dimensions of Kashmir's Sufi tradition, which emphasizes love, compassion, and unity. He also explored the region's political and social issues, including the impact of conflict and occupation on the people of Kashmir.A study of Qudrat Ullah Shahab's works on Kashmir offers valuable insights into the region's history, culture, and politics, as well as the writer's own spiritual and philosophical perspectives. It also highlights the importance of literature and storytelling in understanding the human experience and promoting empathy and understanding.Its an autobiography of an ordinary Muslim Kashmiri boy, who is intelligent enough to get into the prestigious ICS before Partition. Considered one of Urdu's most successful memoir / Autobiography, Shahabnama, is a fantastic read authored by legendary Civil Servant and Urdu writer Qudrat Ullah Shahab. He remained served on various important positions, including Secretary General Azad Kashmir, Deputy Secretary Ministry of Azad Kashmir.Shahb Nama is on the one hand the history of the entire subcontinent and on the other hand some historical,Georaphical,Social aspects of the state Jammu and Kashmir are also included in it.
